Raipur, November 17, 2011
Chhattisgarh will emerge as a favourite tourist destination among global tourists in the near future as it has immense opportunities to explore, Chhattisgarh Tourism Minister Brijmohan Agrawal said today.
“Chhattisgarh has immense potential to emerge as one of the most favourite tourist destinations in India. In the coming years, the state will become a popular tourist destination among domestic and international tourists,” Mr. Agrawal said at the fifth edition of ‘CNBC Awaaz Travel Awards 2011’ held at the Taj Palace in New Delhi. Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, state tourism ministers and other dignitaries from travel and tourism industries were present in the function.
He said Chhattisgarh has become a fastest growing tourist destination in a span of eleven years. “The state after being carved as a new state in 2000, promises a lot of surprises to the tourists. In such a short span, we have provided all the basic facilities to the tourists, including motels, National Highways and better connectivity,” the minister said. He said Chhattisgarh tourism will soon launch a new website and a call centre to provide more information about the unexplored destinations in the state and informed that a letter of EOI has also been issued for a new tourism master plan.
On being associated with the ‘CNBC Awaaz Travel Awards 2011’, Mr Agrawal said the award is an excellent platform to promote and create awareness for tourism in the state. He said the award aims at felicitating patrons of the Indian travel and tourism industry who have time and again proved their vision and expertise on the global tourism platform.
